Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Tamarack different than other camps?

Simply put, the staff. Tamarack interviews close to 250 candidates each year for roughly 180 jobs. Most of the candidates are either returning staff or former C.I.T.s from the Elder Programme applying for their first year on staff. The staff are a creative and energetic group whose priority is to ensure the well being of our campers.

Do you serve nuts/peanuts?

All the food served at Tamarack is peanut/nut free. In fact, all of the baked goods served at camp are baked fresh in our state of the art bakery. We ask that parents also practice a nut sensitive policy and refrain from sending any type of nut product to camp.

How's the food?

The food at Tamarack is great. We serve 3 well-balanced meals plus plenty of snacks every day. Fruits and veggies along with lots of water to get the camper hydrated is always available. We also have plenty of alternative meals to cater to lactose and vegetarian campers and staff.

What is ‘choice'?

Choice is unique to Tamarack. At the start of each week campers sit with their counsellors and request 4 activities for the week. Campers are then assigned to 2 choices for Mon-Wed and two for Thurs – Sat. It allows campers to specialize in the activities that they truly enjoy. Campers travel with other campers from their unit and are always supervised by counsellors.

Where is Tamarack located?

Tamarack is located roughly 1 hour 45 minutes north of Toronto . The camp is situated on a stunning private lake in the heart of Muskoka.

Where are the campers from?

Most of the campers at Tamarack come from the Toronto and Thornhill areas. We also attract a number of campers from New Jersey , New York and California.
