Other Items

Camp Tamarack makes an effort to supply our campers with most of the equipment necessary to participate in camp activities. Listed below are some suggested options:

Inline skates and safety equipment, baseball glove, fishing rod, flashlight (with extra batteries), ballet slippers, tap dance shoes, costumes and musical instruments.

Items which are best left at home include: tennis racquet, jewelry, electronic games, walkmans, cassette players and knives. Cellular phones, beepers, pagers, mini T.V's, kettles, etc. will be confiscated.

Insect Repellent

Traditionally, the First Period takes place during the Black Fly and Mosquito seasons. Although this is only apparent during evening programmes, it is imperative that the campers have proper protection. Campers should bring repellent (in non-aerosol containers). The counselors will ensure that the campers are properly dressed and adequately protected with the repellent so this will not become a problem.

Smoking, Alochol & Drugs – Policies and Procedures

No campers (including C.I.T.'s) are allowed to smoke. If caught, the camper will immediately be asked to leave camp. No refund will be issued and the parents must arrange their own transportation. The Camp Director will notify the parents by telephone. Once again, failure to comply will result in dismissal. For obvious reasons, alcohol and drugs are forbidden and will result in dismissal and possibly legal action.

Our staff's policy concerning alcohol and illicit substances are the same as the campers except that employees are allowed to smoke in the Staff Lounge or in designated outdoor areas. There is no smoking around the campers or in camper cabins.

Reminders

  • Please arrive at the bus depot prior to departure time
  • Camper cabin information is not given out until the start of each session.
  • Parents – please refrain from forwarding food packages to the camp. All packages will be open under the supervision of the Directors and any food will be confiscated.
