Super Choice Specialty Program

Overview

Tamarack is thrilled to offer a unique and exciting new alternative opportunity for campers turning 7 to 14 years old in 2012 in an 11-day/10-night program that ends the Tamarack Summer 2012 camp season with a bang! Campers (including those who have enjoyed Tamarack’s spectacular regular program up to that point in the summer) will love the option to select a program that includes approximately half of the camp day (two/both choice periods out of the total of five periods) in a “super choice” specialty program that they have registered for in advance. During the other portion of the day, campers will be exposed to the other awesome land, water and arts programs that Tamarack offers.

Registration

The key to this amazing Tamarack Super Choice Program alternative, however, is that the camper pre-selects/registers for the Super Choice he/she most wants to enjoy/learn/enhance. The unparalleled Super Choice options are outlined on the opposite page.
On the Camper Application Form, please indicate if your camper is interested in signing up for a Super Choice Program. An additional fee of $300.00 will apply to help cover applicable materials, transportation, experts, field trips, and
related costs.

Alternative Program

The Super Choice options are intended to provide some unique program alternatives that will appeal to certain campers while the rest enjoy the regular Tamarack program. Please note that during this August 6th-16th period at the end of our camp season, a camper, whether attending for the Super Choice/Acorn III Session only or as part of the Full Season or Second Session experience, can choose to enjoy:

1. The Super Choice Program: Out of 5 periods on a regular day, 2 periods of Super Choice, 2 cabin periods in a variety of activities, and 1 swim period. Super choice off-site/multi-day trips may be part of the session experience, as indicated in the description; OR
2. The Regular, Popular Tamarack Program: Out of 5 periods on a regular day, 2 different choice periods, 2 cabin periods in a variety of activities, and 1 swim period.

Super Choice Program Options:

HANG GLIDING…The Sky is the Limit!

Tamarack is pleased to be working with High Perspective Inc. (www.flyhigh.com), which has operated safe and successful Hang Gliding programs for over 40 years! Under the supervision of qualified, experienced instructors, campers will begin in a stationary simulator. “Low and slow” flying (i.e. 5-15 feet in the air) will enable campers to feel comfortable and gain confidence. In-class instruction, DVDs, and discussions will teach campers about risk management, equipment, safety, and more! The session will end with a penultimate tandem (camper + instructor) high flight, hundreds of feet in the air!

HORSEBACK RIDING…Galloping Good Times!

We are delighted to be working with Maple Lane Farms
Equestrian Centre located in Bracebridge just minutes from our campsite! Qualified, expert Maple Lane instructors will ensure safety, development and skills and a whole lot of fun for beginner to more experienced Tamarack riders. Campers will enjoy horseback riding, instruction and stable management, including equine grooming, care, and feeding.

MULTI-MEDIA…Lights, Camera, Action!

Tamarack is fortunate to have ‘The Director’s Cut’, a leader in the world of digital media literacy and fun, running the Multi-Media Super Choice! Campers will have a unique opportunity to use cameras, tripods, computers, film-editing software, and develop claymation characters using stop-motion technology in creating their own films. After adding in music, sound effects, voice-overs, special effects, transitions, and titles, Tamarackers’ films will be a shoe in for an Academy Award. They’ll even get a DVD to proudly take home!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE & CANOE TRIP…A Stroke of Genius!

Get amazing exposure to canoe, kayak & outdoor skills in a program culminating in an unforgettable 3-day, 2-night canoe trip in Algonquin Park! Orienteering, stroke development, fire-building, fishing and other outdoor opportunities, as well as the amazing canoe trip, will be led by our Tamarack paddle & outdoor rec staff, along with experienced canoe trippers/guides. Top-notch equipment and supplies will be provided!

TAMARACK’S GOT TALENT... Everyone Is A Star!

Do you want to sing, dance, act, and/or play in a rock band? Our Groove Dance, and Zodiactors’ theatre and music professionals will help unlock or enhance each camper’s talent, skills and confidence in an amazing, creative, and collaborative program. Campers will have the individualized opportunity to focus in one or more of the aforementioned performing arts disciplines. The program will culminate with a spectacular show performed in front of the whole camp!
